This programme builds on the success of the UK Plant and Crop Phenotyping Infrastructure preliminary activity and the PhenomUK Technology Touching Life network — strengthening collaboration across academia, industry, and innovation partners.
Backed by a £35.4 million investment through the UK Research and Innovation Infrastructure Fund and led by the BBSRC, PhenomUK represents a coordinated effort to secure the UK’s long-term food supply in the face of growing global challenges. By establishing a national research and innovation infrastructure — spanning crop growth stages from seed to field — PhenomUK will dramatically enhance our ability to measure plant performance in realistic environments and at scale.
